I first stumbled upon Uncle Jack a little while ago on Instagram and I was struck by the simplicity in form and structure of the watches; their art direction mirrors their watches in the minimal styling and direction of their shoots and videos. I think I was initially drawn to the watches because they clash with my own usual chaotic and colourful style but it is this minimal aesthetic that have carved out a niche for them in the watch industry.
I finally got my hands on this slick black on gold watch from the UK as the brand have launched activities on this side of the world and I was not disappointed! The watch arrived in beautiful casing that mirrors the aesthetic of the watches and the brands and the watch itself does not disappoint.
It is light enough that it doesn't feel restrictive and the leather straps are extremely comfortable on the wrist; luckily for a klutz like me, the watch is also waterproof meaning I can make little mistakes (which I usually do) and still have my watch intact! The rose gold accents on my particular watch are beautiful in an understated kind of way and enhance instead of detracting from the minimal nature of the watch body.
The overall aesthetic and the dedication to Japanese Precision Movement inspired this shoot of balance and poise under pressure in an urban setting and urban styling of long lengths and soft textures layered with harder and darker tones...
