It's not very often that events in Dublin are unique and / or genuinely exciting but well the guys at Wagamama ticked both boxes on Thursday night with a genuine sumo slam!
So on Thursday night, the guys at Wagamama unveiled in full their brand new configuration and I have to say, I really like it. I spent many an evening in Wagamama on King Street a few years ago enjoying their Katsu curry and duck dumplings and it's the very things that I didn't particularly like that have been redesigned, meaning I'll probably be coming here quite a lot in the near future!
The benches are now a plush leather and the bar has moved to an easier to reach location. It's a little less lunch and a lot more of a dinner destination with dimming lights and sumptuous cocktails (so so sumptuous).
Back to the event and I suppose when you are planning to launch something Japanese, you e gotta go all out with it! So the guys put together a sumo grudge match between eternal enemies, good guy King Katsu and the villain Guoza Joe! It was everything you expect from Sumo; ridiculous and hilarious with tonnes of surprises. I even got in on the action!
There was raspberries in champagne, beers and of course delicious grub to feast on. I won a little voucher on the night for a meal for two so expect to see me back here soon! Pop down and check out the new Wagamama. As they say in Japanese, 'sayōnara'
